The Northern caucus of the House of Representatives have pledged N350 million for the rebuilding of Tudun Biri community, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State that was recently bombed by a military drone attack.
Speaking on the project, he said it will include blocks of classrooms, a clinic, police post, solar borehole and solar electrification among others.
This was disclosed by the leader of the Northern caucus, Al Hassan Ado Doguwa, when he led members of the caucus on a condolence visit to Kaduna recently.
Doguwa announced that the donation was in addition to the earlier donation of N45 million made to victims by the Speaker, House of Representatives and the Kaduna State Caucus in the green chamber of the National Assembly.
The former House leader also announced that the three southern caucuses of the House of Representatives have decided to support the cause with a sum of N30 million.
Doguwa commended the Tinubu-led federal government for promptly reaching out to victims and for taking charge of the victims’ welfare.
The caucus further appreciated the government’s intention to rebuild the community and pledged to follow up, to ensure appropriate compensations for the victims and the community as promised by the federal government.
Doguwa said the caucus is poised to provide the legal framework for the compensation, and also ensure that families of those that were killed are adequately captured in the compensation scheme.
He appealed to the affected community and the leaders to remain calm and law-abiding while thanking the government and Governor of Kaduna State for keeping to their responsibility of ensuring law and order in the state.
Doguwa said the caucus is pleased with the charitable commitment of the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their patriotic commitments to combat the upsurge of insurgency, banditry and other criminal activities that plagued some parts of the country.
He decried the various attacks by bandits and other criminal elements, adding that the caucus resolved to a condolence visit to commiserate with the government, the leaders of Tudun Biri community and survivors of the unfortunate incident.
At Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, where the House members checked the welfare of the injured victims, Doguwa donated N1 million cash to the patients for their upkeep.
In his remarks, the State Governor, Senator Uba Sani urged the lawmakers to ensure that the victims get justice, by ensuring that the incident is investigated, so as to fish out the culprits.
According to him, investigating the incident is the most important thing that should be done by the National Assembly so as to prevent further recurrence of such mishap.
He said, “I am happy we are all on the same page with the President, Vice President and members of the National Assembly on the need for an investigation over the unfortunate incident.”
The Governor stressed the need for the National Assembly to look into the laws guiding the operations of the Nigerian security forces, saying that the legislations are obsolete and not in tandem with the current global practices.
He also thanked the lawmakers for their donation, saying the projects to be executed in the community will go a long way in changing the lives of the people
