NUDGOSA set for 2023 National Convention

The Nawair Ud Deen Grammar School, Old Students Association, NUDGOSA, Obantoko, Abeokuta, Ogun State has put in place all modalities to hold its 2023 National Convention at the school’s main field between 14th and 16th of December, 2023.

The decision was made during a meeting of the National Executive Committee of NUDGOSA, National Convention Central Working Committee, Chairmen and Secretaries of Chapters and Sets at the school compound recently.

The Chairman, NEC, Honourable Fasiu Bakenne, who also doubles as the chairman CWC, in his remarks said that the meeting was primarily meant to discuss and assess the preparedness towards the national convention and to review and approve the proposals and submissions of the constituted committees.

The National General Secretary and Chairman, 1980 set, Mr Bode Fabule highlighted the order of the event to include roadwalk and debate/quiz competition for day one, jumat service and chapters/sets night for day two, and a grand finale which includes anniversary lecture, project launch, project commissioning and donations for the third day.

Fabule also highlighted some previous achievements of the old students which include construction of blocks of classrooms, renovation of blocks of classrooms, furnishing of laboratories and donation of computer sets to the school.

Other previous achievements were sponsorship of sporting activities, sponsorship of production of the school magazine, award of scholarship to indigent students, and the ongoing construction of the multipurpose school hall.

Damilola Sanni, Chairman, Mobilization and Publicity Committee and Publicity Secretary of the 1980 set, highlighted goals and expectations of the 2023 convention as mobilization of funds for the infrastructural development of the school, launching of projects, and strengthening of bonds among the old students.

Sanni said that the 1980 set donated a three classroom block during the last convention and is also planning another project for presentation during the coming 2023 convention.

Chairman, 2023 Convention Fund Raising Committee, Dr Lateef Odekunle, said the convention is the largest assembly of all old students and is a forum that enables all old students from all over the world and all walks of life to connect with their alma mater and with one another and that the meeting offers valuable resources and networking opportunities with a rich platform for bonding and camaraderie.

Nawair Ud Deen Grammar School was established on the 19 of January, 1962 in Elega, Abeokuta by the Nawair Ud Deen Society of Nigeria.

The school started in full in 1964 when they moved to their permanent site at Obantoko, Abeokuta.
