PLSG assures on LG elections

PLATEAU State Government has stated its  commitment to conduct Local Government elections in the seventeen council areas of the state. This was contained in a press release signed by Philip Eplong, Secretary, Media and Publicity sub-committee and made available to SUNDAY STANDARD in Jos.

Secretary to the Government of the State, Professor Danladi  Atu, re-echoed the position at the Inauguration of the Campaign Council of Shehu Usman,  Chairmanship and Shina his running mate and deputy on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress  for the  October 9  Council Elections in the state. noted that the present administration of Governor Simon Lalong will leave no stone unturned to ensure democratic governance at the third tier of government.

The campaign council, comprising 57 members, was inaugurated on Wednesday at Sharna Palace, with party faithful who came out in their numbers to witness the event.

Some of the members inaugurated are Secretary to the Government of the State, Professor Danladi Atu as Chairman with the state APC Caretaker Secretary Bashir Sati Musa as co – Chairman, while the Acting Chairman of Jos North Local Government, Solomon Danshitu Sanda will serve as Secretary and Theresa Azi as the Director General of the Campaign Council.

Others include Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, Irimiya Werr and his transport courterpart,  Mohammed Mohammed, member, House of Assembly Service Commission, Mazadu Yushau, former Speaker Plateau State House Assembly, Peter Azi and David Sauni, among others.

Speaking at the Inauguration, SGS, Prof. Danladi Atu who was also the Chairman Shehu Bala and Shina Campaign Council appealed to members  to cooperate and work as a team in other to deliver APC in the area.

Atu stated that the Council election in the state will be a  demonstration of the test and  strength of the party and of the purposeful governance and acceptability of Governor Lalong and his administration.

He said contrary to speculations from some quota, Governor Lalong has reaffirmed that election will hold in all the 17 Local Government Areas in the state.

The APC Jos North Campaign Council Chairman warned those peddling falsehood to desist as government would not take it lightly with any person or persons found to be engaging in such acts.

He emphasized that APC in Jos North was a united family, noting that a peaceful election in Jos and other areas in the state will give a positive narrative about Plateau people

Acting Chairman of Jos North Local Government, Solomon Danshitu Sanda, described his former Principal and his running mate as focused, competent and skillful to take the local government to higher pedestal. He assured of his unflinching cooperation at all times.

While inaugurating the Shehu Usman and Shina Campaign Team,  APC Chairman Jos North, Sani Gangare said the party in the area has been well structured and parades credible candidates who are tested  in different assignments given to them,  hence the need for members to work together  to take the  party to victory on October 9.

On his part, Shehu Bala Usman, the Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming Local Government election in the state noted that his administration if elected will consolidate on the achievements of the past while serving as Chairman Management Committee.

There where goodwill messages from the APC State Secretary, Bashir Sati Musa, Commissioner of Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, Irimiya Werr as well as the former Commissioner of Information Plateau State, Nazifi Muhammad, among others.
