The Plateau State Government says it is committed to implementing reforms that would improve the ease of doing business, streamline regulatory processes and enhance transparency in governance.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang gave this indication while inaugurating the Plateau State Ease of Doing Business Council at Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, recently.

He said they would do everything within their power to create an enabling environment where entrepreneurship and innovation could thrive.

Represented by his Deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo, Mutfwang noted that the state was in need of circulating businesses to compellingly revolutionise value added initiatives to bring up the state positively.

“We are all aware that fostering a conducive business environment is paramount to economic growth and development. It is a collective responsibility to ensure that businesses thrive and flourish, leading to increased job opportunities and a higher quality of life for our citizens,” the governor pointed out.

“This forum holds great significance to us as it provides us with an opportunity to discuss the current state of the Business Enabling Environment and delve into the intricacies of the state business environment reform programme.

” It is time for us to align our efforts and deepen collaboration among stakeholders to improve the state of business on the Plateau,” the governor stressed.

The state, he said, was blessed with abundant resources and untapped potential. And tasked all to leverage on this strong foundation to build upon by working together to enable the state to unlock its potentials.

He noted that small and medium businesses were the backbone of the country as well as benefit the community by creating job growth and providing locals with job opportunities. He also stressed that the insights, experiences and expertise of the stakeholders was valued by the government as they would serve as vital inputs in shaping the future of the state business environment.

The terms of reference for the council are to among others, coordinate and supervise the implementation of business enabling reforms, establishing linkages with the Presidential Business Environment Council and ensure Plateau State was among top states in terms of ease of doing business in the country as well as coordinate and ensure the development of business environment reforms and action plans.

Secretary to Government of the State and Chairman of the Plateau State Ease of Doing Business Council, Architect Samuel Jatau, said the government was determined to move the state from a civil service state to a private sector driven-economy.

Jatau urged members of the newly inaugurated council to work together as a team and ensure that the state remains among the top ten states ranked as having the enabling environment for ease of doing business.

Members of the Council cut across relevant MDAs and the private sector.
