The Senator representing Benue North West (Zone ‘B’) Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Dr. Titus Zam has tasked Christians in the state to pray for their leaders at all levels.

Senator Zam who spoke at St. Augustine Catholic parish, Demekpe, Makurdi during a thanksgiving mass organised in his honour by his kins under the aegis of Tyoshin Youth Association (TYA), said his victory at the polls in the last presidential and national assembly election was purely God’s doing through people’s prayers.

Zam while imploring Christians to sustain prayers for Secretary to Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, to succeed in his assignment, said he believes in the efficacy of prayers. He maintained that he didn’t know whether there was any other god apart from God, the Father and promised that he will serve his constituents with the fear of God and humility.

He revealed that his victory at the polls was a clear case of David and Goliath in the Bible and assured that he has and will ever remain respectful to the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Samuel Ortom who he said contested against him and refused to approach the courts for litigation after his defeat.

He announced that he has forgiven all his political foes and promised to work with people across all the political divides.

Earlier, the priest in charge of St. Augustine Catholic parish, Demekpe, Rev Father Professor Francis Wegh in a sermon which harped on forgiveness and humility, charged political office holders and other lay faithfuls to show humility in their dealings with fellow humans.

The cleric decried the gradual deviation from God’s teachings by some men of God as contained in the scriptures and tasked the senator not to look down on anybody irrespective of their societal status.

In a remark, President General of Tyoshin Youth Association, Mr. Godwin Jande said the thanksgiving mass was organised to thank God for elevating one of their sons to an enviable height.

Mr. Jande said based on human permutations, Tyoshin people were the least in the state to have produced a senator but God made it possible through prayers from people of good will.
