Redouble efforts in tackling Plateau, Zamfara security challenges – PDP Governors’ Forum

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor’s Forum has joined others in expressing strong concern over the deteriorating security challenges bedeviling Plateau and Zamfara States where lives and properties were destroyed.

As a result, they called on security agencies to redouble efforts in addressing the situation so that the callous killings and destruction of lives and properties would be stopped.

Senator Bala Mohammed, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, who is the Chairman of the Forum disclosed this while briefing journalists at the end of their inaugural meeting held at the Akwa Ibom Governor’s Lodge,Asokoro Abuja, recently. He said the forum was really touched over the incidents in the two states.

According to him, all the PDP governors had expressed their concern on the deteriorating security concern in the country especially, the destruction of lives and properties in Plateau, Zamfara among others. And advised the Federal Government and security agencies to rise up to the challenges so as to bring the situation under control.

Gov. Mohammed explained that in the interim, the forum would cooperate with the federal government on issues concerning the welfare of Nigerians and good governance while striving to maintain the independence and autonomy of the forum through offering constructive criticism where necessary.

The Chairman further revealed that the meeting resolved to work together and unite the forum so as to be a force to be reckoned with.

The PDP governors tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies to allow free conduct of elections in Bayelsa ,Kogi and other states scheduled for November 2023.

According to him,” The aim of the forum is to provide a platform to review issues, policies, programmes and achievements of member governors across the PDP states.”

Our correspondent reports that the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang was among the PDP governors that attended the meeting.
