REMAIN STRONG SUPPORTIVE PILLARS BEHIND YOUR SPOUSES- Gov Alia

Wives of members of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly have been urged to remain supportive pillars to their husbands for them to continue to initiate quality legislation that will engender development in the state.

Governor Hyacinth Alia gave the charge recently at the private residence of the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and member representing Gboko West State constituency, Hon. Aondona Dajoh in Makurdi during the celebration of 40th birthday of the Speaker’s wife, Mrs. Kudumiyol Cynthia Dajoh.

Represented by his Deputy, Barr. Sam Ode, the governor, said as wife of the Speaker, she was duty bound to galvanise all spouses of other members to bring about harmony, unity and love in the state.

The governor said he observed that the stability and humility which the Speaker personified was as a result of the support and peace he enjoys from the home-front. He added that the desire of the three arms of government in the state; the executive, legislature and the judiciary was to unite for the unity, well-being and development of the state since they remain pillars upon which the present administration will stand.

Governor Alia reminded wife of the Speaker and spouses of other House members, that women of the state were depending on her to influence her husband to enact legislation for the well-being, betterment and women empowerment in the state since good women have greater influence in the affairs of their husbands. He thanked her for always standing by her husband.

He commended the unity among spouses of House members and sued for sustenance.

State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), comrade Austin Agada in a speech on behalf of state exco described the Speaker’s wife as a woman who believes in driving her husband’s dreams to fruition.

Represented by state Organising Secretary of the party, Mr. James Ornguga, the state chairman commended the role the Speaker has been playing since his emergence, in bringing together both the APC and members of opposition parties in the assembly, describing his actions as high demonstration of leadership capacity.

Comrade Agada who maintained that only a man who has a good wife can manage a relationship the way the Speaker has demonstrated, wished her more happy returns in years to come.

Majority Leader of the House and representative of Mbagwa state constituency (APC), Hon. Saater Tiseer who was represented by the House Minority, Chief Whip, Hon. Michael Audu of Adoka/Ugboju state constituency (PDP), said the unity the Speaker has demonstrated in bringing members together in the Assembly speaks volumes of the support he enjoys from his wife and assured the wife of the Speaker that the entire members of the House will support her husband.

Wife of Majority Leader of the House, Mrs. Dooshima Kyaagba who spoke on behalf of wives of Assembly members, described the celebrant as a pillar of support to the Speaker and congratulated the him for having a supportive and God fearing wife in the person of Cynthia from whom she said they have been learning a lot.

Also speaking, the commissioner designate and former speaker of the 8th Benue Assembly, Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange, commended the celebrant for standing as the main pillar of support to her husband and tasked spouses of other members to emulate the celebrant.

Earlier in a welcome address, husband of the celebrant and Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Dajoh appreciated God for giving him an understanding, beautiful, prayerful, caring, accommodating and strong wife.

The Speaker who congratulated his wife on her 40th birthday, said age forty was a special age in the sight of God and men and thanked those who graced the occasion for finding time to rejoice with the family.

In a vote of thanks, the celebrant and wife of the Speaker, Mrs. Cynthia Dajoh said she had every reason to thank God for giving her the opportunity to attain the age of wisdom and to be with someone like Hon. Dajoh as husband in whom she finds love, parental care and above all, honour she did not deserve.

She said when she lost both parents to death, she wondered if any one would fill the gap. Asserting that marrying her husband has never been a moment of regret and appealed to other women to always be patient with their husbands no matter the situation.

There was entertainment and cutting of birthday cake produced by a daughter of the family, Miss Naomi Dajoh led by the deputy governor and other dignitaries during the occasion.
