RTEAN seeks partnership with police

The Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Dr. Solomon Arase, recently met with the national leadership of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).

During the meeting, Dr. Arase called for a robust partnership between the association and the Nigeria Police Force to combat and contain criminal activities in the country.

Dr. Arase noted the strategic role that the association plays in the fight against crime, noting that the Police Force would be willing and ready to collaborate with the RTEAN. He highlighted the importance of gathering vital information from the association’s members, who encounter people all over the country during the movement of goods and services.

Dr. Arase commended the RTEAN for its assistance to the police during elections and urged for an improved and enduring partnership. He also praised the association for providing timely information on criminal activities.

In his response, the Executive National Chairman of the RTEAN, Dr. Musa Mohammed (Maitakobi), represented by the National Vice President Administration, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Bishara, expressed admiration for the initiatives and reforms implemented by the PSC under Dr. Arase’s leadership.

He acknowledged the progress made in areas such as community policing, training and development, and technological advancements.

The RTEAN vowed to contribute to the improvement of law enforcement practices, as stated in its constitution, by collaborating with the police.

The association expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from the PSC’s best practices and pledged to incorporate these insights into their work.

They expressed their commitment to support the PSC’s endeavours and look forward to future collaborations, particularly in the area of youth recruitment. The association also proposed a well-coordinated security system between the Nigeria Police and RTEAN Marshal, which currently liaises with the police in information sharing at motor parks and bus stops.

The Deputy President of the RTEAN also urged the PSC to utilize artificial intelligence to address the country’s security challenges.
