WALGON calls for unity amongst PDP members

The Chairperson of Wives in Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (WALGON) Plateau State chapter, Hajiya Sa’adatu Ado Yusuf, has called for unity and synergy within the peoples Democratic Party leadership in the state in order for the party to overcome the myriads of problems concerning developing issues that must be addressed in the state.

She made the call recently when the association paid a courtesy visit to the Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen of Pankshin, Kanke and Bokkos Local Government Councils, Hon. Samuel Shangka Go’ar, Hon. Shikir Nuhu Caleb, and Hon. Monday Kassa respectively at the Pankshin/Kanke joint Traditional Council chamber in Pankshin, when the association were in Pankshin for their routine meeting.

She called on all key stakeholders, members and lovers of the party to rally round Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang in order to assure that justice is done at the Supreme Court and that victory at the end will be celebrated for the party and the entire citizens of Plateau State, who overwhelmingly voted for Mutfwang of the PDP in the 2023 Governorship election.

While emphasising the need for the unity, she said despite all odds against the party, the party still remains one big family where there is room to accommodate everybody. And she noted that in a big party as PDP, there are bound to be disagreements but the common denominator is the interest of Plateau State. Yusuf said the party should be united in order for them to fight a common goal and the enemies that are blocking their already gotten victories at the polls.

The WALGON chairperson urged the chairmen to work towards ensuring that the Supreme Court judgement is done according to the rule of law and in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for peace, and unity of the state and the country at large. Adding that, as wives of the TIC chairmen of the seventeen Local government Councils, they will continue to support the laudable initiatives and policies of the ‘Time is now’ administration of Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and the TIC chairmen in the state.

Yusuf thanked the chairmen for always supporting their meetings and prayed for lasting peace on the Plateau because it is not for nothing that the political atmosphere in the state is charged. She called on all meaningful Plateau people to look at one another as brothers and sisters for the growth, development and progress of the state.

Responding, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, Hon. Samuel Shangka Go’ar, thanked the chairperson of WALGON and her members for the show of love and solidarity to Governor Caleb Mutfwang. He assured the WALGONand all the party faithful and supporters that despite all odds, he is optimistic that the Supreme Court judgement will definitely favour the party and our amicable Governor Mutfwang will be victorious at the end of the Supreme Court judgement.
He commended the association for their steadfastness at all times despite the political atmosphere in the state and he assured them of the continuous support and cooperation of the ALGON in the state for the upliftment of the standard of the WALGON chapter in Plateau State. He added that they were proud of them as wives and he prayed that God will sustain the relationship forever.

In his remarks, the TIC Chairman of Kanke Local Government Council, Hon. Shikir Caleb Nuhu urged WALGON to work as a team even after the expiration of the TIC chairmen in the state because such unity and relationship is the most important in life today. He also stressed the need for the association to be very industrious and also to involve and encourage other women in their respective local government areas through initiating better programmes that will empower and better the lives of the women folk.

Hon. Caleb Shikir maintained that he is confident that the Supreme Court judgement will be in favour of Governor Mutfwang.

On his part, the TIC Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, Hon. Monday Kassa thanked the WALGON for their visit at this crucial/ time which he said was timely for their prayers are needed to strengthen them for the fight for justice at the Supreme Court. He appreciated them for their prayers and steadfastness for the Governor Mutfwang and the TIC chairmen in the state and all the PDP supporters. And described what is happening in the state as the hand of the devil at work, but assured them that all these happenings will soon be a thing of the past by God’s grace because God will never forsake his people.

Speaking earlier, the Chairperson of the Heads of Women Unit in the seventeen local government areas in the state, Mrs. Cynthia Yusuf of Kanam Local Government Council, appreciated the TIC chairmen for hosting them. She said they were also in Pankshin alongside wives of the TIC chairmen for their own meeting too, as the two bodies have to work together as one body in the order for the women in all the local government areas to benefit from the resolution taken after the meetings for onward implementation by the Heads of Women Unit.
