We’ll unlock Plateau’s tourism potentials- Governor Mutfwang

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State has reiterated his administration’s unwavering dedication to unlocking the immense tourism potential of the state for its comprehensive growth.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director of Press Affairs to the Governor,Mr Gyang Bere in commemoration of the 2023 World Tourism Day recently. Governor Mutfwang emphasised that the tag “Home of Peace and Tourism” for Plateau State was a well-deserved recognition of the state’s abundant tourism treasures.

He affirmed that the government has taken decisive strides to cultivate numerous tourist sites across the state through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).

This initiative, he said, aims to boost internal revenue generation and generate substantial employment opportunities for the youth.

Governor Mutfwang noted with pride that Plateau is a distinguished tourist haven within Nigeria, considering its tranquil climate that captivates tourists worldwide. He explained that it is in view of this that his administration is committed to reestablishing enduring peace and rejuvenating many of the state’s tourist attractions for the greater welfare of its citizens.

He stated, “Our goal is to position Plateau State as one of Nigeria’s foremost tourist destinations. We will harness the state’s diverse tourism assets, including Assop Falls, Kurra Falls, Hawan Kibo Mountain Range, Jos Wildlife Park, as well as the enchanting water bodies such as Rayfield Resort and Yelwa Club Lake, not to forget the remarkable rock formations like Shere Hills, Wase, and Riyom.

“We will actively support and organize the hospitality industry in the state, revamp and restock the Jos Wildlife Park through PPP arrangements, and promote the arts while nurturing the talents of our youth in arts and crafts.”

Governor Mutfwang assured that special attention would be directed towards completing and efficiently utilising the Luka Bentu Theatre for the benefit of the people in the state.

Governor Mutfwang extended his warm wishes to the people of Plateau as they celebrated the World Tourism Day and urged them to uphold the law, embrace peace, and work collaboratively towards a united and harmonious state.
