FG declares public holiday to commemorate Independence Day

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, October 2nd as a public holiday in celebration of the country’s 63rd independence anniversary.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

In his statement, the minister congratulated all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, on the occasion. He also assured the citizens of the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges currently plaguing the nation, emphasising that these difficulties are not unique to Nigeria but are global in nature.

The minister further stated that the government is working diligently to confront these challenges head-on with all available resources until a resolution is reached. He stressed the importance of unity among Nigerians in order to achieve the greatness that lies ahead for the country.

The minister highlighted Nigeria’s prominent position on the world stage and referred to the nation as Africa’s pride and beacon of hope. He also mentioned the country’s abundant resources and the warm hospitality of its people, which contribute to Nigeria being recognised as the leading black nation in the world.

Additionally, the minister expressed the government’s renewed hope for the future under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
