ACreSAL awards #3.7b gully erosion contract

PLATEAU State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACreSAL), has awarded contract worth over three billion, seven hundred and thirty-nine million, eight hundred and thirteen thousand, eight hundred and eighty-nine naira, ninety kobo (#3,739,813,889.90) for the rehabilitation/reconstruction of Plateau Club-Bingham University Teaching Hospital’s gully erosion site.

Signing and presenting the contract agreement to Bay Royal International Construction Company on behalf of the Plateau State Government at the ACreSAL Conference Hall in Jos, the Plateau State Project Coordinator, Mr. Garba Gowon Gonkol, thanked Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Task Team Coordinator and the World Bank for making this a reality.

He said, the work started in 2021 and the World Bank granted it on January 27,2023. He further disclosed that after thorough assessment and scrutiny of over twenty-five (25) contractors that applied for the contract, Bay Royal International met the ACreSAL contract specification and was chosen for the contract.

Gonkol, however, urged the contracting firm not to see itself as the best among other companies that applied, but should see it as a rare privilege to serve the people of Plateau State, because due diligence was Plateau people’s expectations from them, hence the need for them to ensure that they meet the specifications.

Responding, the Executive Director of Bay Royal International, Kyauta Nathan Bawa, thanked God for seeing them through to emerge victorious out of the 25 contractors who applied and promised to deliver before the 30 months period specified for them to complete the contract.

He said, “As a company, the footprints of our work are all over Plateau State. We have worked in Riyom Local Government Area, Shendam Local Government Area and so many others. So, Plateau people should expect nothing less, but quality work”

Meanwhile, the Plateau State Commissioner for Environment, Climate Change and Mineral Development, Hon. Peter Kanang-Gwom, who doubles as Chairman, State Steering Committee (SSC) said, Plateau State has been affected by numerous climate change challenges occasioned by several mining activities and charged the contractor to ensure he follows the required contract specifications.

He, therefore, thanked the World Bank for considering Plateau State and urged the management of ACreSAL in the state to monitor the work religiously so that the expected specification should be achieved because the present administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, believes in quality.

Earlier, the Procurement Officer of ACreSAL, Michael D. Adiwu, highlighted the terms of contract and also disclosed that the contract sum was over #3,739,813,889.90 only and that the contract time-frame would be for a duration of 30 months which would be equivalent to two and a half years.

Also highlighting the quality and length of work to be carried out, the contract Project Site Engineer, Engr. Steve Machak, assured the benefiting community of quality job, urging them to report any shortfall or what they want while work was ongoing so that the contractor would be able to give them quality job.
