Block all financial leakages, Mutfwang tells RMAFC

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State,has enjoined the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission ( RMAFC), to block all financial leakages in government and its agencies as well as resolve the lingering contentious of stamp duties in the country.

He made this assertion when the RMAFC officials led by Hajiya Hawwa Umar Aliyu paid him a courtesy visit recently at the New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

According to Governor Mutfwang, their working visit to Plateau State was timely and promised to accord them the necessary support in order to succeed in their task ahead.

He described it as an important federation agency which belonged to the interest of the federation and urged them to be transparent in all their transactions at all times.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Hajiya Hawwa Umar Aliyu, who is the Federal Commissioner, Jigawa State, intimated Governor Mutfwang that they were in the state for monitoring and recovery exercise on tax liabilities owed by states, state MDAs and local government councils.

According to her, Plateau State Government and Local Government Councils owed a substantial amount which needed to have been settled but is yet to be settled. She affirmed that their visit was to ascertain the payment of the already established liabilities which arose from the joint exercise of 2021.

Hajiya Hauwa further noted that they were in the state to also conduct new exercises covering the 2008 to 2010 Withholding Tax(WHT) and VAT as well as WHT, VAT and SD for the period of 2017 to 2018.

According to the Federal Commissioner, they would also sensitise the officials of the states and Local Government Councils on remittance of deducted taxes as at when due.
