The Chairman of Bauchi State committee to assess the level of challenges in the delivery of basic education has advised his members to approach their assignment with unwavering commitment, determination and innovation to achieve success.

The state Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, who heads the committee, gave the advice recently during a meeting with members of the committee held at the conference hall of his office.

The Deputy Governor noted that the challenges in the delivery of basic education are not insurmountable, hence the need for members of the committee to bring their expertise, creativity, and passion to the exercise in order to address the perennial problem in the state.

He explained that the committee was borne out of Governor Bala Mohammed’s concern, determination and commitment to providing access to quality education for all children at basic level in the state.

He said the present administration has invested immensely in the basic education sub-sector, especially on construction and renovation of schools across the state, and therefore reiterated the government’s readiness to lay a foundation for a brighter future, where every child in the state will have access to quality education.

“It is my honour and privilege to welcome you to the meeting of the committee constituted by His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON (Kauran Bauchi) on the State of Basic Education in our dear Bauchi State. You may recall that the governor set up this committee on the 4th of September, 2023 to assess the level of challenges in the delivery of education particularly at the basic level due to the huge investment made by this administration in the sector.

“As we gather here today, there is a need for us as key stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of delivery of education at the basic level. A comprehensive assessment of the learning environment, including the condition of facilities is critical in ensuring that learning rises to its highest standard.”

Auwal Jatau hoped that the reports presented on the outcome of the assessment exercise so far conducted would provide the committee with a unique opportunity to not only identify the key issues hindering effective learning in schools, but also to develop sustainable solutions that will set the state on a path towards educational excellence.

The Deputy Governor then extended his deepest gratitude to members of the committee for their tireless efforts in the exercise conducted so far and expressed confidence that with the collective support of all stakeholders, the state government will revolutionise the basic education system and give wings to the dreams of countless children in the state.
