Plateau State Coordinator, Country Women Association of Nigeria, COWAN, Jessica Vonkat has called on stakeholders and relevant organisations to lend their voice to the establishment of Gender and Equal Opportunity Commission for the advancement of the cause of women and the less privileged in the society.
Vonkat stated this when she led some officials of the organisation to a courtesy call at Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
Country Women Association of Nigeria is a Non-Governmental Organisation, non-political and non religious volunteer women organisation established with the aim of uplifting the living standard of rural and urban poor women in Nigeria .
The state coordinator said the organisation, established in 1990 in the state, has been working in the 17 local government areas in collaboration with state and non-state actors in providing developmental support to women, youths and people with disabilities and has reached out to over 70,000 beneficiaries .
Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs Josephine Piyo, appreciated the the women group for coming to identify with the ‘Time is Now’ administration led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang and promised to give them the maximum support to e succeed.
Meantime, Christian Youth in Politics Initiative, Plateau State Northern Senatorial Zone, were also at Government House, Rayfield to identify with the ‘Time is Now’ administration .
Leader of the group, Ephraim Davou said the youth organisation has been engaging the youth in awareness to participate in politics, skills acquisition training and sensitisation against drug abuse.
Plateau State Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, commended the contributions and prayer of the youths for the success and development of Plateau State government .
Piyo assured them of government’s collaboration to provide empowerment and order useful engagement that will uplift their standard of living.
