The rise in destruction of lives, properties and farmlands in Mangu Local Government, Plateau State and other parts of the state have continued unabated over the years.

In recent times, Mangu has witnessed incessant killings, attacks and destruction of lives, properties and farms. Obviously, this will cause food shortage, loss of revenue to both government and farmers. This has an immediate effect on the price of maize from N25,000 to above N50,000 as at the time of this report. Certainly, if nothing is done, the people might be left with nothing to feed themselves and communities.

The popular case of one Mr. Emmanuel Egole who lives in Mangu Local Government Plateau State has become a subject of worry. This farmer lost all his farm investments and home.

Other survivals said Mr Emmanuel, has been a successful farmer for years but devastated, despondent and displaced due to various degrees of wanton killings and destruction of farm and homes as a result of farmer/herder clash, unknown gun men attack, religious crisis and some other unbridled causes that have left him homeless. They confirmed that Mr Emmanuel Egole, a giver of money to the people both for farming and humanitarian services have now become a beggar and homeless.

In the midst of those crises, many lives were lost, farms destroyed, houses burnt and whole lots of colossal damage done to the people of Mangu and its environs. Many farmers and their families are displaced for some time now with no hope of relief.

The people implored the government at all levels, to rise up to their core responsibility of protection of lives and properties to enable them go about their farming business without fear of being killed. They also begged the government at all levels, well-meaning individuals and the international community to assist those that lost everything like this young man bounce back to life.
