Election tagged inconclusive in Sokoto

The three Senatorial Districts in Sokoto, contested by Aminu Waziri Tabuwal, Abdulahi Danbaba, Aliyu Magatakarda Wammakko and many others from ADC- 219, APC—79,991, APGA—224, NNPP-315, NRM—170, PDP—87,850, SDP-90 and ZLP—24 has been tagged as inconclusive.

The Sokoto INEC Returning Officers for the 3 Districts, Sokoto South; Sokoto North and Sokoto Central, Prof Abdullahi Bagudo, Prof Ibrahim Magawata and Prof Shehu Gulumbe respectively stated that these followed over voting and disruption in all of the 7 local government areas within the state.

Our correspondent also reports that some polling units with a total of 121,010 Registered Voters were also cancelled. This informed the decision to declare it as inconclusive.

It was revealed that the current Senator Aliyu Magartakarda Wammakko, APC garnered 114,866 votes, the state’s incumbent Deputy Governor, Manor Dan Iya of PDP scored 103,134 votes while others followed suit, even as the total number of votes stood at 699,575. The Accredited voters stand at 206,265.

In summary the Returning Officer said that the total number of votes cast stood at 203,540, total valid votes 197,838, rejected votes 5,962 and that 67,602 votes identified in the polling units were also cancelled within the areas in question.

Shu’aibu Gwanda-Gobir, PDP scored 99,198 votes and Lamido Abubakar, of APC, 97,147 votes as the leading candidates among others.
