Malumfashi Foundation has appealed to the Federal Government to site the newly established Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology in Malumfashi local government of Katsina State.

The Foundation which is an umbrella body of the concerned citizens of the area made the plea in a statement signed by the Board of Trustees Chairman, Alhaji Yakubu Jibrin and made available to the Nigeria Standard in Malumfashi.

The organisation expressed appreciation to Federal Government over the laudable efforts which would bring development to the people and promote learning and research. According to the statement, Malumfashi and Funtua local government areas were the famous local government areas existing since the the era of the defunct Kaduna state.

According to the statement, the two areas produced reputable scholars in different fields contributing to the socio- economic and political development of the nation at different times within and outside Nigeria.

‘The statement further mentioned that Malumfashi indigenes are among the people that embraced western education and are very resourceful in academic research with friendly environmental and fertile land for agriculture. That in-spite of the large population and economic activities in the area, there isn’t any degree, diploma, or NCE awarding institution in Malumfashi and Funtua local government areas.

“We therefore appeal to the Federal Government to consider our request to establish the Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology in Malumfashi which would surely improve our well-being and the locals, the state and nation in general,¨ Jibrin said.
