Sokoto State Governorship candidates of ADP, LP, NNPP and SDP have condemned in strong terms what they described as misguided utterances by some political leaders as it amounts to disregard to law and order capable of inciting violence in the ongoing 2023 General Elections.

In a news conference, Dr. Ibrahim M. Liman, its Chair, said prior to these utterances, acts of lawlessness including snatching of ballot boxes, use of local weapons, intimidation that were all recorded before and during the Presidential Election, were the order of the day. It appealed to the law enforcement agencies and INEC to be more vigilant in monitoring all the political parties and their supporters without fear or favour in accordance with the oath they had taken and act appropriately whenever necessary.

The group also reminded the generality of the people in Sokoto especially the youths to always use every opportunity available to bring about positive change, support and vote wisely. They advised that most importantly, they should shun violence, avoid intimidation and never take laws into their hands.

They also appealed to all their supporters specifically and all well-meaning Nigerians in the state, to embrace peace and harmony as both civic responsibility and moral obligations as being preached by all religions, tradition and all civilizations too.

The group pointed out that as patriotic citizens who are concerned with public interest, they are totally against violence and lawlessness as peace, harmony and rule of law are paramount and above all interests and therefore shall never be compromised for whatever motive a group of people may have.
