INEC presents Certificate of Return to Gov Inuwa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificate of Return to winners of March 18, 2023 Governorship and State Assembly elections for Gombe State.

Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and his Deputy, Manasseh Daniel Jatau, who were re-elected for a second tenure, were presented with their certificates by INEC National Commissioner representing Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba States, Dr. Baba Bila in company of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Umar Ibrahim at the Gombe International Hotel, Thursday afternoon.

The 24 members-elect, comprising 20 APC and four PDP members of the state House of Assembly also took their turns to receive their certificates from the INEC top officials. However, three members were absent during the certificate presentation.

Re-elected Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, while responding, thanked the people of the state for giving him the mandate the second time to be the governor of the state promising to uphold the trust bestowed upon him.

He called on his opponents to join hands with him in taking Gombe State to the next level, adding that the elections have been won and lost but he said in the spirit of moving the state forward, “there is no victor, no vanquish”.

Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Umar Ibrahim, commended the people of the state especially stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful conduct of the election.

He also appreciated INEC staff, ad-hoc staff, particularly youth corps members for their sacrifices to the nation by offering themselves for the conduct of the polls.
