JNI condoles with Mutfwang over killings

Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang on Tuesday received on a condolence visit, the leadership of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), the Plateau State Chapter, led by its Chairman, the Emir of Wase.

According to him, the aim of the visit was to condole with the governor over the recent unfortunate incidents that have occurred in the state where hundreds of innocent people were killed.

Addressing the Muslim Umma , Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for the support and unity demonstrated by the Muslim community on the Plateau, emphasising his commitment to fairness and justice, irrespective of religious or tribal affiliations.

The governor acknowledged that religious diversity is a gift from God and stressed that he believes that everyone will be accountable to the creator. He thanked the Muslim community for their unwavering support as well as condemned acts of violence and terrorism.

He highlighted the importance of cooperation among different religious groups to address the challenges faced in the state, stressing that the problem lies with the leaders and their greed, rather than the ordinary people.

Referring to recent incidents of violence, Governor Mutfwang condemned any act of killing, whether committed by Christians or Muslims. And emphasised that such individuals do not represent the teachings of any religion and should not be used as a basis to generalise and condemn an entire religious group.

The Chairman of JNI, Plateau State, Dr. Muhammed Sambo Haruna, expressed deep sadness over the killings which he posited necessitated the visit.

The Emir acknowledged the presence of Muslims in the governor’s family, friends and government. He emphasised that Governor Mutfwang’s actions demonstrate his trust and support for Muslims.

Dr. Haruna urged the government not to view every Muslim as a terrorist and emphasised that Islam does not condone acts of violence, property destruction and or confiscation.

Haruna further stressed that the visit was also aimed at fostering unity among different religious groups in Plateau State. He also pointed out that it was aimed at finding a way forward to address the recent incidents.
