Ahead of the November 11, governorship election in Kogi State, the candidate of Action Alliance, (AA,) Olayinka Buraimoh has promised to prioritise women and youth empowerment if elected.

He said the planned special attention for women and youth capacity building is targeted at stemming the multi dimensional poverty plaguing the state.

Buraimoh , while fielding questions from journalists after meeting with women groups in Lokoja, noted that women from time immemorial, have been the bedrock of family prosperity, multiplier of incomes and so should be mobilised to multiply the resources of the state.

“I grew up to realise that women are multipliers of resources. Give them anything, they will multiply it. They are the ones that engage in petty trades and grassroots jobs. They also look after the family when the head is not around. That is why, they will be on the front burner of my administration” he said.

According to him, “Youths on the other hand, form the future of any state and should be carried along in the scheme of things. We will empower them through the instrumentality of job creation and engaging them in profitable ventures by taking them out of the streets to reduce crimes and criminality in the state.”

He also advised those fanning the embers of violence to have a rethink as they themselves would be the first casualty of the violence they have initiated.

“Agents of violence should remember that they are bringing destruction onto themselves. They will be the first casualties of the violence they have caused, ” the AA candidate added.
