Lalong commends clerics for contribution to education

APPARENTLY happy with the level of commitment to education by clerics of the Catholic Church in his state, Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau, has lauded their efforts.

“You have done a lot of contributions to the growth of the education sector and the teaching profession in the state”, Lalong said on Monday at the golden jubilee celebration of priestly ordination and religious profession of the Vicar General, Societies and Institutions of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos, Rt. Msgr. Benedict Obidiegwu, held at Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral in Jos.

In his commendation, the Governor said that the celebrant had distinguished himself in all his responsibilities, noting that he performed well as a lecturer at the Federal College of Education, Pankshin, and as Principal of St. Murumba’s College, Jos.

Said Lalong: “As a principal of Murumba, the school won many national and international awards and competitions. You have made a mark as an educationist, administrator and a parish priest who has impacted the lives of Catholics and Non Catholics, as well as people of other faiths in many ways and this is worth celebrating”.

Lalong also appreciated the celebrants for their contributions and successful service in the Catholic Church, urging them to continue to invest in the educational sector.

Speaking at the forum, the Archbishop of Jos Diocese, Most Rev. Mathew Ishaya, congratulated the celebrants for their selfless services that is impacting lives, urging Plateau residents to pray for sustainable peace in the state.

Responding on behalf of the celebrants , Rt. Msgr. Benedict Obidiegwu thanked the church, colleagues and all who have shown them support to continue discharging their work in the lords vineyard.
