Late Governor Audu son promises to continue father’s legacies

Ahead of 2023 governorship election in Kogi State, son of the late former state Governor Abubakar Audu, Shaibu Audu has promised to continue with the legacies of his father if given the opportunity to rule the state.

Shaibu Audu in a telephone conversation with Our correspondent, said his  promise followed the clarion call on him by various youth organisations across the three Senatorial District of Kogi State to participate in the next gubernatorial elections come 2023.

The youth groups  had at their enlarged  gathering in Lokoja, the state capital  unanimously declared their solidarity for Shuaibu Audu whom they described as a Youth ambassador based on his passion to restore the dignity of the youths.

Speaking at the venue of the event, the president for the Movement  of Youths Emancipation, Comrade Aliu Obaje said the dynasty of Late Prince Abubarkar Audu must be preserved, hence the need to consider his lineage particularly the one who had understudied his leadership qualities.

He described Shuaibu Audu as a technocrat with uncommon passion to uplift people irrespective of tribe and primordial sentiments.

Comrade Obaje called on youths to support Shuaibu and described his father as the architect of Kogi infrastructural development.

Also speaking at the occasion, the state Chairman of Okun Youths Forum, Mr Makanjuola Ayoriy said the state needs a leader that will link up with global communities to facilitate development.

Similarly, the Chairperson of Kogi Women Forum, Mrs Rukayat Ahmed who disclosed that she had been an ardent supporter of the  Late Audu urged politicians to reflect on the sacrifice he made as the leader of major opposition party since the inception of democracy in the state.

Reacting further in  a telephone chart with our correspondent,  Mr Shuaibu Audu expressed appreciation to the various youth groups saying he was grateful that the people noticed his modest contribution to the society.

On the request to partake in the next election, Mr Shuaibu Audu said he has learnt a lot from his father who was also a banker like him.

He said his foundational assistance to the people, particularly the underprivileged is to continue the legacies laid by his father.

He advised youths to remain *focused*, *law abiding* and be committed to *the* progress of the society saying the negative news of killings, kidnapping and harm robbery in the state is undesirable.
