MURIC inaugurates new executives

PLATEAU State Chapter of the Muslims Rights Concern (MURIC), has inaugurated its new executive council to oversee the affairs of the organisation.
The aim of the organisation is to fight for the rights, respect, freedom of Muslims, and ensure fair hearing to all Muslim Umma.

The occasion which took place at the Asar-UD-Deen Society, Central Mosque in Jos, the Plateau State capital, recently, saw great Islamic clerics, women, youths and other heads of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) tripping in.

Among those inaugurated included: Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar Yusuf, as Chairman and to be deputised by Hajiya Maryam Maidunama. While the positions of Secretary and Assistant Secretary went to Auwal Ali Kazaure and Hadiza Umar Bala respectively.
Also inaugurated were: Iliyasu Kashim – Publicity Secretary; Hidaya Abdulraheem – Welfare Secretary; Adama Abdulsalam – Assistant Welfare Secretary; Hadizah Ibrahim – Media/Youth Coordinator; Hajiyah Ramatu Abdulsalam – Treasurer and Fatima Danjuma, as the Financial Secretary in that order.

Others include: Sheikh (Dr) Nazeefi Yunus, as Head of Da’ awa; with Abu Hameeda Juqman; Alhassan Abdullahi Umar; Barr. Maryam Shittu and Salamatu Lalo, as Da’awa amidst prayers to the Almighty Allah respectively.

Speaking earlier, the Plateau State Chairman of MURIC, Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar, raised concern over the ill-treatment meted on the Muslims Umma affected by insecurity in Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Areas.

He therefore called on all Muslims Umma in the country to support by contributing towards cushioning the hardship being faced by them. “Our people have been denied the right to expression and government relief materials. They are really suffering! I want to commend women who seriously take this bold step”.

On her part, the State Vice Chairman of MURIC, Hajiya Maryam Maidunama, who spoke on behalf of the inaugurated executive members, thanked Allah for giving them the opportunity to serve in respective capacities and prayed that He would see them to the end.

While presenting a Lecture at the occasion, the State Chairman of Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Barr. Sani Abdul’aziz, who spoke on a topic: “Fundamental Human Right” said there were constitutional rights that protect citizens, but people have failed victims because of ignorance.

Also delivering his lecture on the topic: “The Right of the Masses on the Leadership: The Islamic Perspective”, the Chief Imam of University of Jos, Dr. Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf, represented by Sheikh Nazeefi Yunus, expressed concerns that most of the breakdowns of law were engineered by some government officials.

He however, challenged MURIC to serve as an intermediary between government and the Muslim Umma, as well as citizens of Plateau State, so that there should be fair distribution of resources and appointments.

Meanwhile, an elder, Engr. Mansir Saliyu Nakande, urged people to differentiate religion from politics because it could be admitted only when it works for one area.
