Mutfwang launches Emblem Appeal for Armed Forces Remembrance Day

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang recently at the Banquet Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield,Jos launched the Emblem Appeal for 2024, Armed Forces Remembrance Day and the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme in the state.

Various donations were made to the legion and N100,000 to 250 beneficiaries across the 17 local government areas of the state in that order.

The governor, while performing these functions, commended the Legion and the first lady , Senator. Mrs. Remi Tinubu,for prioritising the protection of lives, the integrity of the nation as well as uplifting the well being of the senior citizens in the society.

According to him, the state government would continue to support the Legion in all ramifications considering the sacrifices they rendered to the country in ensuring that the nation remained indivisible.

Governor Mutfwang congratulated them for being alive and acknowledged the fact that they have not been fair and kind to the legions. He promised to begin constructive engagement with them to ensure they feel belonged.

Mutfwang also assured the judicial arm of the government of his attention. He acknowledged that their welfare was neglected and promised to regularly hold security council meetings which he said was abandoned by the immediate past administration.

To Senator Remi Tinubu, the governor thanked her for the gesture saying her ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ Elderly Support Scheme, where the Elderly were supported with money and rice for the festive season. This, he said, would go a long way in supporting them at this hard period.

According to him, the First Lady holds Plateau State dear to her heart which led her to donate large sums of money to those affected by crises as well as the elderly in the state. He stressed that the distribution cut across religion and tribal affiliation.

In their separate remarks, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Nde Sati Yilwatda, thanked the governor for the tremendous strides made within a short period and urged him not to be distracted by the antics of the enemies of the state.

According to Nde Yilwatda, the promises made by the past administration which were not fulfilled should be looked into so as to minimise the suffering his members went through.

Mr Danjuma Bangs who also spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the First Lady of the nation for the kind gesture and appealed that the gesture be extended to those in the rural areas.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,Mrs Caroline Dafur, assured the legions that they were working in synergy with the government to ensure that they assist the family of the fallen heroes left behind. She thanked the governor for standing with them at all times.
