Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State says his victory at the tribunal was purely an act of God, democracy and the rule of law.
Reacting to the Saturday September 23rd, 2023 judgement delivered by Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Makurdi, Governor Alia said the court has indicated once again that it was the last hope of the common man and that no might is powerful enough to thwart the supreme will of the people and claim power through the back door.
He assured people of the state that he was committed to putting the welfare of the state ahead of himself and appreciated the fact that his victory was that of the people to whom sovereignty and power truly belongs.
Governor Alia rededicated himself to the service of the people and strengthening of democratic values across the state.
He enjoined members of opposition to put their hands on deck to ensure that the state moves away from the current mess of misery, poverty and maladministration.
It will be recalled that the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Makurdi recently re-validated Governor Dr. Hyacinth Alia’s victory as the duly elected governor of the state.
