Nigerian Governors’ Wives commit to maternal, child health

The Nigerian Governor’s Wives Forum has expressed commitment to contribute in areas of maternal and child health problems considering the alarming rate of maternal and child mortality across the country.

The Kwara First Lady made this known in Bauchí where she said these were part of the forum’s resolutions at the end of its three days annual retreat held at the New Banquet Hall, Bauchi.

The Chairperson of the Forum and wife of Kwara State Governor, Prof Olufalake Abdulrazaq, told journalists after the meeting that they were in the state to deliberate on their work plan ahead of 2024.

Prof. Olufalake Abdulrazaq who advocated for equal opportunity for women in relevant sectors, noted that the forum has also resolved to introduce initiatives aimed at increasing schools enrollment among women and children across their respective states.

She explained that the forum has agreed to work in collaboration with relevant bodies with a view to addressing the spate of gender based violence and women marginalization in different fields.

The forum has earlier paid a courtesy visit to Governor Bala Mohammed and the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu to intimate them on the forum’s mission.

The Governor’s Wives Forum through its dynamic chairperson, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for the wonderful reception accorded them since arrival.
