Operation ‘Kule Chass’ launched in Sokoto

The Sokoto Command of the Nigerian Police has launched a security operation code- named (Kule Chass) aimed at intercepting and arresting thugs and persons wishing to cause confusion and havoc in the forthcoming gubernatorial and inconclusive elections in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Useni Mohammed Gumel launched the anti-thuggery exercise at Command headquarters in Sokoto in conjunction with the military and other security operatives in the state.

He said the operation became necessary in view of the recent political developments that resulted in the declaration of the 25th of February National Assembly Elections in the state inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to wanton activities of thugs during the elections.

According to the Commissioner, some disgruntled political gladiators in the state are trying to test the will and might of security operatives in the state which he said would definitely be met with maximum force.

“Any person or group of persons seen wielding weapons of any sort will be regarded as an enemy of the state and the nation and would be subdued at all costs by the security.

“We will not fold our arms and allow unconventional approach towards the existing security architecture of the state, with politicians employing the services of vigilante groups at polling units.”

“I repeat, any person seen with a weapon of any kind aside from those lawfully authorized to do so will be dealt with, without prejudice.

“Sponsors of political and any form of thuggery will meet their waterloo as security operatives are mandated to use maximum force in the event, they resist arrest.
