Oyo Assembly appoints principal officers

The Oyo State House of Assembly has announced the appointment of principal officers of the Assembly.

This announcement was made on Tuesday during the plenary of the House.

The House was inaugurated last week.

Edward Adebowale Ogundoyin was re-elected as Speaker while Muhammed Abiodun Fadeyi was re-elected as Deputy Speaker last week.

Ogundoyin announced the names of the principal officers of the House.

He announced that Sanjo Adedoyin (Ogbomoso South) has been named as Majority Leader of the House while Salami Ayinde Waliu (Irepo) has been named as Minority Leader.

He added that Gbenga Oyekola (Atiba) has been named as Chief Whip, Yusuf Adebisi (Ibadan South West I) has been named as Deputy Chief Whip while Sunkanmi Babalola (Egbeda) has been named as
Deputy Majority Leader.

The House also constituted a 7-man ad-hoc committee to continue the investigation of alleged misappropriation of fund and other allegations levelled against some council chairpersons.

The committee has Peter Ojedokun (Chairman), Oladeji Oparinde, Tunde Kehinde, Gabriel Babajide, Sanjo Adedoyin, Bamidele Adeola and Akande Modiu.
