Candidate of the Young People’s Party (YPP) in the recently concluded Langtang-North/Langtang-South Constituency National Assembly election, Hon. Yarnap, has withdrawn his case before the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos, Plateau State, challenging the declaration of Hon Beni Butmak Lar, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

This took place recently when Counsel to the Petitioner, Micah Adaji, announced the withdrawal of his Counsel’s petition to the three-member committee of the tribunal led by Justice Muhammad Tukur,

Tuesday after every considerations and deliberations with the Prime Petitioner.
However, Counsels to the 1st Respondent, H.N. Ugwaike, 2nd Respondent, S.Y. Tsok and that of the 3rd Respondent did not object the application seeking the court’s order to withdraw their case before the tribunal but called on the panel to strike out, dismissing with a fine.

The counsels, therefore, urged the tribunal to consider their prayer of charging the Petitioner to pay a fine for wasting the precious time of the tribunal all these while. But the tribunal stroke the application and urged both parties to bear their respective losses since the petitioner has made bold to withdraw his case.

In a similar vein, the All Progressive Congress (APC)’s candidate for the February 15, 2023 National Assembly Election for Langtang-North/Langtang-South Constituency, Hon. Vincent Bulus Venman, has testified before the tribunal that the candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Beni Butmak Lar, was not supposed to be declared as winner of the election.

He disclosed that he should have been the rightful winner of the election because the PDP has no recognised State Executive Council in the state, but was announced as winner in an election that it was not supposed to participate in.
