The Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA), has during Thursday’s plenary approved a loan facility of fifteen billion naira (#15bn) to the Plateau State government.

This is sequel to a communication from the state Executive Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for the payment of backlog of salary arrears owed the state civil servants and for the purchase of agricultural inputs to assist farmers in the state.

A second communication was also received from the state governor, seeking the request of the House to rejig the 2023 budget to reflect the current economic realities being faced.

The state governor was asking for the virement of the sum of three point five billion naira (#3.5bn) to take care of MDAs subheads and particularly, tackle the issue of insecurity to which the House constituted a five-man committee headed by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gwottson Fom Dalyop.

Meanwhile the PLHA speaker has during Thursday’s plenary, constituted the House presiding officers with Hon. Ishaku Maren representing Bokkos constituency as majority leader and Hon. Ibrahim Agbalak representing Rukuba/Irigwe constituency as deputy majority leader.

While Hon. Bala Fwangje, member representing Mangu South constituency is now the chief whip, Hon. Nanbol Rimvyat representing Langtang North Central is the House deputy chief whip and Hon. Gabriel Dewan Kudanbgena, member representing Pankshin North, the minority chief whip.

However, a little drama ensued with the mention of Hon. Ibrahim Adamu Galadima, member representing Wase constituency as the House minority leader when the member representing Shendam constituency, Hon. Joe Bukar raised an observation that the name mentioned by the speaker was a different name to that contained in the letter in his possession from the state party, APC.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Moses Sule advised that they should go back to the state APC office and resolve whatever issues that may have arisen from the said letter.

Also during plenary, the House passed for first reading two executive bills which are ‘A Bill for a Law to Establish the Plateau State Law Reform Commission’ and ‘A Bill for a Law to Establish the Plateau State Citizens Mediation Centre’.
