The Social Democratic Party Governorship candidate for the November polls in Kogi State, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka has lauded the gains so derived from the creation of the state 32 years ago.

In his goodwill message, Ajaka said that the coming on board of the state has fostered unity and development among the benefiting communities.

“Indeed the creation of Kogi State has been very eventful and prosperous.

“In a momentous celebration,, Kogi State marks a significant chapter in its history as it turns 32 years old today. The commemoration of the state’s establishment on August 27, 1991, is a tribute to the foresight and determination of its founding fathers. Their vision to reunite communities previously divided among Benue, Kwara, and Niger States became a reality, uniting people under the banner of Kogi State.

“Before the state’s formation, the inhabitants of this region thrived as a cohesive unit within the larger Northern Region. Known as the Kabba Province, this shared heritage, culture, history, and common ambitions were the ties that bound. Despite being considered minorities, the unity of the people was a strong unifying force.

“The desire to mend the fabric of the Kabba Province propelled an unwavering movement within the former Benue and Kwara States. This movement culminated in the birth of Kogi State on August 27, 1991, representing a triumph of collective will and a step toward reintegration.

“Over the last 32 years, Kogi State has braved diverse challenges and emerged as a resilient community with an unbreakable bond. However, the journey has not been without its hurdles, particularly in terms of infrastructural development and economic growth. This is often attributed to leadership and governance challenges.

“Despite the abundant natural and human resources that Kogi State possesses, the lack of effective leadership has hindered its full potential. A dynamic leadership that harnesses these resources for rapid and sustainable development, is the need of the hour, to lift the state from its current status as one of Nigeria’s less affluent regions.

“As we commemorate this remarkable 32nd anniversary, the call for unity and a shared vision for progress resonates strongly. The state’s individuals must collectively reject divisive tactics employed by self-serving politicians. Instead, the focus should be on advancing the state’s interests and securing a prosperous future for all.

“The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is committed to providing the leadership that can leverage Kogi State’s resources to alleviate the persistent poverty affecting its citizens. Through strategic economic and social policies, the SDP aims to realize the dreams of the state’s founding fathers for autonomy and substantial development.

“In anticipation of the upcoming November 11 election, Kogi State residents are urged to exercise their power by electing leaders who prioritize the well-being of their constituents. Putting an end to unjust practices such as unpaid labor and inadequate compensation requires choosing representatives who are truly dedicated to progress.

“In closing, heartfelt congratulations are extended to every Kogite on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Kogi State’s formation. The road ahead holds immense promise, and with collective effort, Kogi State’s journey towards prosperity will continue to gain momentum”
