The Supreme Court has reserved its judgement on three appeals seeking judgement pattaining Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State.

The appeals were brought before the court by candidates of the APC Governorship elections, Senator Ovie Omo Agege, Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Mr Kenneth Gbaji and Ken Pela respectively.

A five member panel of the apex court, led by Justice lnyang Okoro okayed the appeals for judgement after all the parties adopted their final briefs of argument. Specifically, the appellants through their respective counsels, urged the Supreme Court to invalidate the November 24 judgement of the Court of Appeal in Lagos State which dismissed their cases for lack of merit and affirmed Oborevwori of PDP as the the winner of the contest.

They equally faulted an earlier judgement of the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, which had on September 29 affirmed Oborevwori’s election. While Omo Agege contended that the election was not conducted in substantial compliance with provision of the Electoral Act, the SDP candidate Gbagi prayed the court to declare that Oborevwori was not eligible to contest the election. His counterpart in the Labour Party, however, urged the Supreme Court to nullify the entire election and declare a fresh one.
