Tinubu’s reform will bring prosperity to the country- AGF

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi(SAN) has explained that the ongoing reforms of President Bola Tinubu will bring economic prosperity to Nigeria.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja weekend, he urged Nigerians to be patient with the president and support the reforms being introduced across the board. The minister assured Nigerians o f the president’s commitment to take the country out of the woods. He emphasised that the president is not looking for self aggrandisement but seeking for a better future for the country.

Meanwhile, the Economic Community of West Africans States, ECOWAS sitting in Abuja has said section 19 (1) (a)27,and 37 of the Nigerian Press Council Act failed to recognise public interest, media, including the right of online and citizen journalists. The court held that the section violated Article 9 (1) of the African Charter on Human and People’s Right and Article 8 (1) and 10(2) of the declaration of principle on freedom of expression in Africa.

The court consequently ordered the Nigerian government to amend these contested sections to align with international practices that promote free, pluralistic and professional journalism.
