UNICEF Nigeria appoints entertainers as champions

UNICEF Nigeria has announced the appointment of renowned music producers, musicians, and film actors as UNICEF Champions for a 12-month period. The appointed champions include Cobhams Asuquo, WAJE, Kate Henshaw, and Ali Nuhu. Their role will be to raise awareness and advocate for child rights issues in Nigeria.

A statement by UNICEF pointed that the champions will address various concerns related to children’s well-being, including health, education, nutrition, child protection, water sanitation, and hygiene. The aim is to use their influential voices and platforms to bring attention to these important issues.

The UNICEF Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Cristian Munduate, expressed her excitement and appreciation for the commitment and influence these champions bring. She highlighted the value of partnering with influential figures in the entertainment industry and acknowledged their dedication to fighting for children’s rights.

Munduate emphasised the significance of this collaboration as a bridge between the commitment to child rights and the power of art and storytelling. Through their involvement in music, film, and public engagement, the champions hope to inspire action and create a lasting impact on child rights in Nigeria.

As UNICEF champions, Cobhams, WAJE, Kate Henshaw, and Ali Nuhu will participate in various initiatives and campaigns. Their aim is to ensure that every child’s right to survival, growth, development, and protection is upheld and championed.
