Uphold honesty-Piyo tells civil servants

Civil Servants in Plateau State have been told to uphold diligence and honesty in the discharge of their duties. The state Deputy Governor, Mrs Josephine Piyo gave the charge at the farewell ceremony in honour of the retired Permanent Secretary, Mrs Helen Ishaya and the Director of Administration, Mrs Ziriya Yamma both of the Deputy Governor’s office, Thursday at the old Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

Describing the retired Permanent Secretary as an honest person who has set standards for her uprightness and diligence while in service. Piyo further stressed that such qualities remain the hallmark of the civil service.

Represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Engr Alex Kundang, Piyo further described the retired Permanent Secretary as an embodiment of humility and hard work who was very accountable with time.

According to her, she has enjoyed working with them and they will be greatly missed.
The Deputy Governor however wished them a worthwhile retirement life.

Responding, the outcome Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s Office, Mrs Helen Ishaya who was visibly elated, said it was indeed a special day in her life and appreciated God for sustaining her throughout the 35 years of her career in service.

In the words of the Permanent Secretary, “I came into the service with my two legs, I am going back on my two legs. This is a thing of joy and gratitude to God because not all who we started together are alive today,” she stressed.

She described the Deputy Governor as a bundle of humility who is accommodating.
In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary said that she has also enjoyed a good working relationship with the staff just as she enjoined them to be faithful in carrying out their duties.
