10th Assembly will ensure domestication of humanitarian treaties

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas has disclosed that the 10th Assembly would ensure the domestication of critical international treaties, protocols and agreement signed by Nigeria towards addressing the humanitarian crisis in the country.

He promised to reach out to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and the Ministry of Justice to ensure domestication of international conventions that would aid humanitarian activities in Nigeria.

Hon, Abbas stated this when he received in his office, a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Nigeria led by Yann Bonzon. The lawmaker commended the International Committee on Red Cross for its interventions in the humanitarian crisis across Nigeria He also thanked the ICRC for its contributions on humanity and interventions in Nigeria, especially in the North East and North West.

Meanwhile, the Senate has set a machinery in motion for the establishment of Federal Data Bank by passing for the first reading a bill to that effect sponsored by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (APC) Ondo South.
