Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has urged the local government heads to conduct bi-weekly or at least, monthly security meetings in their respective councils.

He said this during a meeting with local government councils chairmen in Kaduna, stressing that “it is significant to partner with religious and traditional leaders to improve intelligence gathering and combat emerging security challenges such as kidnapping, armed robbery and other social vices.”

Sani remarked: “I urge you to support and work closely with security agencies and provide them with the necessary information needed in carrying out their duties. I also want to thank you for working with the State Government in the recruitment of over seven thousand personnel of Kaduna State Vigilance Service”

Besides, the Governor drew the attention of the meeting to the detrimental impact of rural-urban migration on rural development. He urged the local government chairmen to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to tackle the issue.

Acknowledging the significance of the rural economy, he assured the leaders of his administration’s commitment to identifying and resolving the challenges faced by farmers to promote rural development as part of his initiative for rural transformation.

On Financial inclusion, Governor Sani stressed that the high number of undeserved and vulnerable individuals in the state was worrisome. He emphasised his commitment to addressing this issue by signing his first Executive Order on financial inclusion.

In a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Senator Sani assured the local government chairmen that his administration would respect and uphold their autonomy.

He encouraged them to utilise the resources at their disposal effectively, to promote development within their respective local government areas.

Responding, the local government chairmen pledged their commitment to working closely with the State Government to fulfil its 7-point SUSTAIN agenda, which focuses on rural economic transformation and overall development.
