2024 budget: PLHA speaker promises prompt passage

Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA), Rt. Hon. Moses Thomas Sule has promised to expedite action on the prompt passage of the 2024 Budget.

He made the promise during his remarks, shortly after the state Executive Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang laid the Appropriation Bill before the floor of the House.

According to the Speaker, the House had, on Monday 6th October, received two communications from the Executive Governor, seeking to present the 2024 Appropriation Bill before the state Assembly.

The second communication was to inform the House of the appointment of Mr. Samuel Dala Umaru as the Transition Committee Chairman (TIC) of Jos North Local Government Council.

He is to replace Mr. Istifanus John, the Interim Administrator who just retired from the state Civil Service while also requesting for the approval of a six months tenure extension of the sixteen (16) local government TIC chairmen, from November, 2023 to April, 2024.

The 2024 budget tagged ‘A Budget of New Beginning’ which is aimed at laying a solid foundation for the peace and unity of the state, is made up of the total sum of two hundred and ninety-five point four billion naira (N295.4 billion).
