Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for the Bayelsa Governorship Election, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has described the sacking of the party’s candidate, Timipreye Sylva, from contesting the November 11 election by a court judgement as a temporary setback.

He stated this when he led a high powered team on a strategic engagement with the Bayelsa APC stakeholders in Yenagoa where he boosted their morale saying, “We’ll come out stronger from the temporary legal setback”

The flag-off of the Bayelsa APC campaign in Yenegoa was originally scheduled for Saturday 14th October, 2023, but was postponed by the national leadership of the party.

However, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said his visit at the weekend was aimed at igniting the spirit of the party members and allay their concerns regarding the recent court judgement which barred the party’s Governorship candidate, Timipreye Sylva, from contesting the November 11 election.

Governor Inuwa met with critical stakeholders in Yenegoa during the visit and left the supporters with encouraging and uplifting words. He urged them to stand firm and assured them of the party’s unwavering support as they continue their journey towards a triumphant electoral victory on November 11.

Exhibiting confidence, Inuwa told the stakeholders that “We’ll emerge stronger from this temporary legal setback. Don’t slow down on the campaigns.

“Take the message to the nooks, crannies and the creeks. We are here to show solidarity with you and to assure you that we are resolute in our commitment to deliver Sylva.

“The President is with you in this journey. The national leadership of the party is with you, and all of us stand by you in this fight to deliver APC and Timipreye Sylva. We will triumph in Bayelsa on the 11th of November by the grace of God”, he assured them.

The APC Deputy National Chairman, South, Chief Emma Eneukwu, who represented the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, re-emphasised the party’s unwavering commitment to securing victory in Bayelsa.

He made it clear saying, “We will not rest until victory is achieved. Bayelsa is a low-hanging fruit ripe for the taking, and we will pluck it with ease. We will stand with you throughout this struggle. Continue with the campaigns and don’t let the antics of the PDP discourage you or hinder your resolve.”

Also speaking, the Vice National Chairman, South South,, Chief Victor Giadom, applauded Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s inspirational leadership, saying he is a man with remarkable track record and astute political acumen.

He described the Gombe Governor as a performer and a seasoned leader in politics and governance who has the wherewithal to deliver on the task in Bayelsa State.

Giadon said, “We deeply appreciate you, Your Excellency. You have shown character and exemplary leadership in this assignment. We commend your courage, and we thank you for leading the way.

“South South region holds immense potential, and visionary leadership is essential. So I urge our party members not to be disheartened by the high court judgement; this is just a court of first instance. Just carry on with the campaigns, we’ll certainly emerge victorious”, Chief Giadom assured them.
