DAJOH EMERGES 10TH BENUE STATE ASSEMBLY SPEAKER

The member elect for Gboko West state constituency (Gbemacha), Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajo (APC) has been elected Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly.

Honourable Dajoh polled 17 votes to defeat his closest rival, Hon. Mrs. Beckie Orpin of Gboko East state constituency (APC) who polled 15 votes.

Hon. Dajoh defeated Hon. Mrs. Orpin during the second ballot after a tie of 16 votes at the first ballot thus, emerging victorious .

Before the final leg of the tension soaked election, there was a break that lasted for over two hours after the first ballot could not produce a clear winner.

Also, the member elect for Ado state constituency, Hon. Mrs. Lamin Danladi (APC) has emerged deputy Speaker of the house through consensus.

The two principal members have since been sworn in and assumed duties.
