Plateau State Council of the Baptist Conference in Nigeria, has made cash donations to over Twenty-four (24) widows whose husbands were killed in recent attacks that claimed so many lives across communities in Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
The Chairman of Baptist Conference in the State, Rev. Zacharia Oluwole, made the cash presentation to the beneficiaries at the Funeral Service of Rev. Mangmwos Daniel, who was killed alongside his Pastors and many others during the recent attacks at Kantoma community of the area
Oluwole, said that the gesture was aimed at supporting and identifying with the widows adding that, ”this is just our token of support to you and your families; this cannot in anyway be quantified with lives of husbands.
”A lot of our members are affected by the recent attacks, but these ones are most affected because they have lost their husbands who have been their source or support . So, the welfare office thought it wise to support these women with cash to enable them earn a living,”he said.
However, the President of the Conference, Rev. Keoleh Saleh, in a brief sermon at the funeral service, urged the people to put their faith and trust in the Lord, in spite of the unfortunate happenings saying, “our greatest defeat as Christians is to allow these attacks, killings and destruction by the enemy to lead us to the devil.
”We must hold our faith tight; we can lose any other thing, but let’s not lose our faith in Jesus and I want to call on Christians to be vigilant and lawfully defend themselves against there attackers who always come to steal and destroy. You must rise up from your slumber and face the enemy headlong”, he encouraged.
The President, therefore, called on government at all levels and security agencies in the country to be proactive towards the protection of lives and property of the citizens and ensure that Nigerians sleep with their eyes closed with no report of any attack on their lives.
The NIGERIA STANDARD discovered that the Conference had earlier donated relief materials worth N3 million to the over 500 displaced persons affected by the attacks across communities in Mangu and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas respectively.
