Governor Mutfwang Pledges Equity, Fairness in Appointments

In a deliberate move to build confidence in the Plateau State Civil Service being the engine room of government, the state Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang said his administration will sustain the principle of seniority, equity and fairness in appointments in the state civil service.

Governor Mutfwang stated this while swearing-in eight newly appointed Permanent Secretaries into the state civil service at the Banquet, Hall,Government, House, Little Rayfield.

Represent by his Deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo, he said the occasion marks another phase in the life of his administration in it’s efforts to improve service delivery in the state civil service.

While congratulating the newly sworn in Permanent Secretaries for the well-deserved appointment to the pinnacle of the civil service who have gone through due checks and consultations, the governor said their appointment was predicated on commitment, hard work and dedication after due diligence.

Governor Mutfwang however warned that his administration will not tolerate disloyalty, indiscipline, flagrant abuse of office and indolence, emphasising diligent service to the government and people of the state should be their watch word. Failure in this regard, they should consider themselves unfit and would be shown the way out.

“You must therefore remain focused to join hands with my administration on the implementation of our programmes, policies and projects to deliver the Time is Now mandate. This will justify the overwhelming support we got from the good people and citizens of Plateau State”, the governor said.

“I further challenge you to bring your wealth of expense and sense of industry to bear on the civil service being a structured bureaucracy which is based on a long tradition of rules, regulations and guidelines. Ensure that you remain apolitical to work within the scheme and schedule of service by upholding the sanctity of accountability, honestly, probity, justice and fairness,” he stressed.

He reiterated his earlier resolve in June at the swearing in of the first set of appointed Permanent Secretaries by his administration, to restore the glory of the state by overhauling the state civil service to give the credence it deserves noting on amount of sentiment will stop him from doing what is right for the interest of all Plateau people.

While expressing confidence in their capacity as seasoned civil servants and bureaucrats to perform in the respective MDAs they will be assigned to, the governor reminded them to see their appointment as public trust which must be protected.

The newly sworn in Our correspondent reports that newly sworn in Permanent Secretaries included, Aliyu Samuel Soho, Mary Fom, Kevin Panshak, Esther Pwaspo, Tamba Nuhu Garba, Alexander Nyelong, Jummai Adamu and Lydia Bonkat.

Responding on behalf of the newly Permanent Secretaries, Mr Alexander Nyelong, assured their unflinching loyalty and support to the administration to succeed noting they will not betray the trust bestowed on them by serving the state civil service according to oath they have taken.
