The newly elected governor of Plateau state Bar. Caleb Mutfwang has said that it is a privilege that God has given him to be part of the history and by God’s grace he will not take it for granted.

Mutfwang said this when some members of the Mwagavul Traditional Council paid him a courtesy visit at the JD Jang Lodge Government House, Rayfield Jos.

According to him, “We are not in any way better than those who contested alongside with us, but God destined it so for us to work for the people of Plateau State.”

“The kind of jubilation and joy we saw on the faces of Plateau people, marveled us. It then shows that, there is hope in the heart of men. The hope that with our strengths and skills, we cannot fulfil it, except with the help of God. That is why your coming gives us joy and strengthens us.”

“This is because when a person starts a journey of this kind, and you know that you have fathers behind you. It gives you strength to go far. Therefore, we thank you, Your Royal Highness, the Mishkagham Mwaghavul and the President, Mangu Traditional Council for this good thought of coming to encourage us before we start the journey.”

The Governor- elect urged the traditional rulers to pray for him as he planned the transition into government. We need your prayers, counsel and support so that we will not disappoint the people of Plateau State.

He stated that it is his desire to make Plateau a state that people can be proud of.

Mutfwang further assured the traditional rulers that he will remain committed, not only to make Plateau greater, but particularly the traditional institution.

“Let me say this, the traditional institution was one institution that was used during the campaigns to blackmail me. That when I become governor, I will downgrade some chiefs. I will bastardize the institution. But let me reinstate this in the presence of my own father, that I have no thoughts other than how to improve the traditional institution.”

“We will be looking for ways and means of how to make sure that our traditional rulers have a better working environment and better motivations to be able to serve their people.”

In his part, the Mishkagham Mwagavul, John Hirse congratulated the newly elected governor for his victory at the Guber poll.

According to him, “We believe that God will show His power through you to bring peace in Plateau. God gives power to those that he will use it to bring peace to his people.”

“I want you to know that this mandate is from God and not your own making, it is a victory for Plateau State, because they have made you to rule them.”

The Mishkagham Mwagavul urged the newly elected governor to thank the people of Plateau State for electing him as their governor.

We pray that God Almighty will guide and direct you, that your reign will bring transformation to the state.

He therefore assured the Governor- elect that the people of Mwagavul, especially the traditional council will support him. We pray that your reign will bring about peace and development in the state.
