Lalong assures of hosting PSN Conference

PLATEAU Governor Simon Bako Lakong has assured the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) of his support towards hosting their 2022 conference tagged “Tin City 2022”.

The Conference which is to be held in the state in November is expected to attract over 5000 delegates, said PSN President Prof Cyril Osifo as he led PSN Executives and stakeholders on a visit to Government House Jos yesterday.

The PSN president said aside coming to intimate the Governor of their upcoming National Conference 2022 which Plateau was given the hosting rights to host in November 2022 the visit is also to appreciate the Governor for creating an enabling environment for pharmacists to work.

Osifo said: “You have continued to display an uncommon leadership attributes for peace which has affected many including our society making pharmacist to strive” even as he went further to congratulate Plateau for winning the hosting rights of the conference after a keenly contested process.

The PSN President also assured the Governor that the state will benefit immensely from the forum as it will be a chance for the Government to showcase itself while there will be activities like awareness health walk, among others for the benefit of citizens.

In her remarks, Chairperson of PSM Plateau State, Pharmacist Kaneng Pam, said they are glad to host the conference recalling that the last time the state hosted the conference was 27 years ago in 1985.

Pam said they are expecting over 5000 delegates in Plateau for the conference which will be great economic boost to the state and the hospitality industry and equally a great opportunity to debunk negative rumours peddled outside that the state is a no-go area due to insecurity challenges.

She used the forum to do the symbolic presentation of the hosting rights baton and banner, and decorated the Governor with the conference regalia ahead of the November event.

In his remarks while responding, Governor Lalong welcomed the Pharmaceutical experts to the state saying the PSN should be rest assured of the state’s hospitality as they come for the November bound conference.

While presenting a gift symbolising an artistic artifact of the state’s tourism potentials to the PSN President, Lalong said the people of the state will be eager to welcome and receive them.

He commended the pharmacists for their work in the health sector and also in the socio-economic development of the state urging them to continue sustaining the tempo.
