PLATEAU State First Lady, Barrister Mrs. Helen Mutfwang, has warned the beneficiaries of free insecticide treated mosquito nets against selling them.

Mrs. Mutfwang gave this warning Saturday while monitoring the on –going distribution of the nets at Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.

She said that the state government, together with the Federal Ministry of Health and the malaria elimination team, flagged-off the malaria eradication campaign in the state last Friday.

Mrs. Mutfwang pointed out that the campaign was part of the efforts of The Time is Now administration and its partners to eradicate malaria across the state.

She noted that the flag-off marked the commencement of the distribution of the nets to benefiting households, stressing that this same exercise kicked-off across the 17 LGAs of the state from April 13 to 19, 2024.

She maintained that as the 2024 state mosquito nets ambassador, she would continue to monitor the distribution and encouraged those who had registered to take their token slips to the distribution points to collect their free mosquito nets.

The First Lady also encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the nets, saying that this would go a long way to reduce cases of malaria in the state to its barest minimum.

Earlier in his remarks, Commissioner of Health, Plateau State, Dr. Cletus Shurkuk, appreciated Mrs. Mutfwang for finding time to monitor the on-going distribution exercise.

He emphasized the need for transparency across the distributing centres and charged the beneficiaries to use the nets for the purpose they were meant for so that the state would become malaria-free.
