THE Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited Hospital Support Programme has constructed a state-of-the art operating twin theatre at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, which was recently unveiled by Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State.

He explained that it was meant to alleviate the suffering patients faced in search of surgeries and provide life-saving operations, especially for the financially disadvantaged.

At the commissioning, Governor Mutfwang remarked, “The addition of this twin operating theatre will serve a greater number of patients, substantially reducing delays and saving numerous lives. We extend our gratitude to NLNG Limited for their contribution to this administration.”

“We refuse to settle for mediocrity. Our vision is to propel the health sector, towards a future marked by excellence. We welcome and value any support that helps us realize this vision,” he stressed.

The governor commended the Chief Medical Director of JUTH, Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, and his team for building upon the work of their predecessors and encouraged the staff to maintain their high standards.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Kachollom Daju, described the project as a significant corporate social responsibility initiative by NLNG Ltd and urged JUTH management to maintain the facility and ensure they deliver quality health care services to their patients.

Mr. Andy Odeh, General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development at NLNG Limited, explained that the project, one of several across the country, was designed to reduce surgical waiting times and inspire hospital staff to excel in their respective roles.

On his part, Dr. Pokop Bupwatda gave the assurance that the hospital, despite its limited resources, would maximize the use of the new theatres.

The twin theatre complex features automated doors for seamless integration with the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.

It includes two operating suites, scrub rooms, preparation areas, a recovery room and other essential facilities – all equipped with modern medical equipment and safety systems.
