The former Majority Leader during the Fifth Assembly in the State House and the present Legislative Liaison to the Governor Bako Lalong, Hon. Geoffrey Jori Teme (Turakin Kwall) called on Plateau citizens to celebrate Governor Lalong’s Legacy Projects as we celebrate Democracy Day. He made the statement in a chat with PPC Digital arm at his country home at Kwall District in Bassa Local Government Area in Plateau State.

He said Governor Lalong is somebody that cannot hurt a fly. This is a quality you can hardly find in leadership. For that reason, Lalong has done a lot that the people of Plateau State should appreciate.

According to Teme, take for instance, the legacy project that is ongoing. It is a thing people should look at with keen interest, applaud and encourage the governor to do more.

As he has done well in his first tenure and he is now in his second phase out of which he has spent one year; It is strongly believed he will do more than any government has ever achieved in 8 years.

Hon. Teme prays and desires the governor to excel. And based on that, he is commending him for one thing- health sector. Clinics and hospitals have been set up in all the senatorial districts. This is an indication that he has concern for the wellbeing of his people.

In assessing the Lalong legacy development project; he said in most of the local governments, one or two projects are ongoing which means he has the best desire for all his people at heart.

The honourable recalled that in 2015 when Governor Lalong took over the mantle of leadership, there were a lot of crises in different parts of the state. But because of his simplicity, gentleness, humility and open door policy, the people got to trust him and rally around him to seek for advice and dialogue.

Teme opined that a lot of tensions and crises were averted through dialogue and extremists calmed down from indulging in their excesses.

He added that though, being human Lalong could not curtail all the crises everywhere in the state. But his style of dealing with such issues has recorded so much success in security matters.

On the Covid-19 pandemic, however, Teme is of opinion that “our hope has been revived seeing the way and manner the government is employing its resources to fight the virus to the ground.

“It’s proof that we have a leader with a vision and fear of God, a man that is a listening leader. In this regard, we can score him 90% for being an achiever on the Plateau.

Hon. Teme advises Nigerians at democracy celebration to have at the back of their minds that it’s a memorable day; something happened that birth joy in our hearts. And democracy is all about the government of the people, for the people by the people. It means that whether you contested and you were defeated, you have to take it in good faith that this is a day set aside to celebrate freedom.

He charges Nigerians to celebrate with happiness believing that our good Lord will make things possible for us. “I strongly that Nigeria’s future will be better than our expectations”.
