Mutfwang condemns border villages clash in Langtang, Mikang

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has condemned the communal clash that occurred recently between villages bordering Langtang North and Mikang Local Government Areas which left many injured and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

In a statement signed by Gyang Bere , the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA), he said the clash was unacceptable, unnecessary and uncalled for, pointing out that what peace cannot achieved would never be gotten through violence.

While frowning at the act, the governor said any act that undermined government’s efforts in fostering peace, would not be tolerated .

He stressed the importance of dialogue as the most civilized and effective means of conflict resolution, and questioned the rationale behind individuals resorting to violence, taking the law into their own hands, and targeting innocent communities with arson.

The governor called on security agencies to dealt decisively with the perpetrators and their sponsor .

He also urged swift mobilization to the affected areas to prevent any further escalation of the situation.

Governor Mutfwang further appealed to traditional, community, and religious leaders, as well as key stakeholders from the affected communities, to initiate dialogue and work towards an amicable resolution of the disputes in order to foster an atmosphere of harmonious co-existence.

Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to establishing lasting peace throughout the state, he said he was looking forward towards a united Plateau where all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity, support one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
